![]() ![]() There's also a checkbox called "Auto" that will automatically release the next wave of vectoids as soon as the previous wave is eliminated. Most players use this button to manually advance the game and I definitely recommend it for beginners. When you're ready to start the next level, there's a button that says "Release Vectoids". OFF means to select a new target for each shot as prescribed by the targeting mode above.ON means to continue firing on the selected target until it's destroyed or goes out of range. In addition, towers that fire periodically have a "target locking" option: In case of a tie, WEAK and HARD seem to pick the leader of the pack. HARD is the opposite and selects the vectoid with the most hitpoints.WEAK means to target the vectoid with the lowest remaining health.CLOSE means to select the vectoid nearest the tower (minimum Euclidean distance). When two or more vectoids are in range, the targeting mode controls which one is selected: A tower will automatically fire on any vectoid that is in range. With careful budgeting, you can save over $12,000 for late in the game when you need it most.Įach tower has a targeting mode that can be set to "close", "hard", or "weak". At the beginning of each level your bank account earns interest. Ideally you want to defeat all the vectoids while spending as little money as possible. Working the economic system is vital to success. The game is over when you lose all 20 of your lives. Whenever an enemy goes off the bottom of the map it wraps around to the top and you lose a life. Every time you kill an vectoid you earn money which you can use to buy or upgrade towers. The goal is to stop all the vectoids (usually called "creeps" in other games) from crossing the map by building towers that shoot them or slow them down. If you've never played a tower defense game before it's pretty simple. In this video I finally break the level 37 barrier and go all the way! (all the way to level 38, that is) There are 50 levels but the best players in the world can only make it to level 37. Vector TDx is a tower defense game that you can play for free at. ![]() Some of the more advanced magic spells, such as lightning strikes, fireballs, and tornadoes, are truly astounding. The ability to cast spells introduces a welcome dynamic to the gameplay, but it also adds immensely to the game's overall visual presentation. However, several of the generals in Kessen II are able to perform special attacks, which range from simple raids to robust magic spells. These sequences in Kessen II are akin to those in Koei's Dynasty Warriors, although you don't have nearly the selection of moves and attacks as you do in that game. In the original game, players were never able to assume direct control of the generals and were only able to control the movement and formation of individual units. You are then able to roam around freely on the battlefield-cluttered with hundreds of individual soldiers, archers, and cavalrymen-and dispose of their enemies in close combat. The battles in Kessen II are instantly more interactive when compared to the original game, as they let you assume direct control of any of your generals by using the analog stick and face buttons. Koei has achieved those goals on both counts. However, this change is an intentional one on Koei's part, as the game's creators were more concerned with allowing you to enjoy the battles themselves, as well as make the game more accessible for novice players. ![]() The battle preparations in the original Kessen were much more involved, as they required both strategy and troop management on your part. For example, at the beginning of each battle, Liu Bei's generals present you with three basic options for troop positioning and movement-once an option is selected, the battle begins. Thus, you don't have to pay much attention to the story.įurther aiding those goals, the strategizing prior to the battles is now simpler and essentially laid out for you. Unlike the original game, which could be played as a straight war simulation, Kessen II is closer to the Koei's vision of creating a dynamic and interactive movie experience with its Kessen games. Each battle is sandwiched by lengthy cinematics, which essentially means that the game demands patience from the player and naturally requires a healthy interest in the Romance of Three Kingdoms epic. Kessen II's storyline is more robust than the original game's, so Kessen II is heavily driven by its plot, using both real-time and prerendered cutscenes. However, once Liu Bei engages Cao Cao's troops, he soon realizes that there is a much broader goal at hand, as he must secure the mandate of the heavens and save China from Cao Cao's tyranny. The primary story of Kessen II is about lost love, as the game's lead protagonist Liu Bei wages a seemingly desperate battle against a vicious warlord of the Wei Kingdom, Cao Cao, in a quest to rescue a woman named Diao Chan. ![]() The result is a game that is visually striking, with massive spell effects and a histrionic storyline, but one that may not appeal to fans of realistic war simulations. While Kessen was set in the Samurai era in Japan and based on a realistic premise, Kessen II centers on the Chinese Romance of the Three Kingdoms epic and is rooted more firmly in a fantasy setting. In Kessen II, Koei takes yet another step toward achieving more general appeal for its historical strategy games. But the original Kessen for the PlayStation 2 was a giant step forward for the company, as it moved Koei's historical simulations into the real-time 3D world and appealed to a broader audience. For years, the historical strategy genre has been Koei's bread and butter, but over time, the appeal of classic series such as Nobunaga's Ambition and Romance of the Three Kingdoms became limited to a niche audience. ![]() ![]() ![]() But wait, that selection isn't so perfect! It's running into the arm! If this happens, it's because Paint.Net has selected the section based on the shade of color (Example: dark green & dark red = both selected.) To change how sensitive it is, look for this bar: Not exactly like that, since I've already gone ahead and selected some of the pants to recolor next. Okay, now that that's done, the picture should look like this: ![]() We're just swapping colors, so slide the Hue bar until that number next to it reads about 170, or type it in, or just slide it until it's a cyan color. Within that menu, click on "Hue/Saturation." If you clicked the right one, this window should appear:ĭon't mess with Saturation and Lightness unless you're changing the overall look of the image parts. Perfect selection! Now, go up to the menubar:Īnd click Adjustments. I like to do the red first, so let's start with his left arm. Okay! Now that we have that, select an area on Mario. In the Tools Box (if you do not see the Tools box, go up to the menu bar and click "Window", then "Tools" in Window's menu.): We need to use the magic wand to select our area first. This is the screen you get when you open the image: To do this, we need a very magical tool: the magic wand! (ugh, puns.) Now, we need to simply recolor the spots that need a color change. Leave the gloves, face, hair, shoes, and yellow buttons as they are. Now, as we know Ice Mario is usually based off of Fire Mario, except instead of white cap and shirt, they're cyan (Cyan is a light blue color). Sounds hard, right? It shouldn't, because it isn't. This is an existing power-up for Mario, but we're going to make the image ourselves anyway. So, let's say we want to make this Mario into Ice Mario. You will need for this section, so go ahead and download it. Right-click on it, then select "Save" or "Save as" to save it to your computer. Editing an image like Mario into a powerup for a game seems hard, but it isn't as hard as it seems. ![]() ![]() ![]() I completely uninstalled the SetPoint and Unified250 software. ![]() When I switched from my failing MX620 mouse to my new M510 mouse, here is the partial fix I used on Windows XP because the options software won't install on XP. This forced users to also download the options software and sometimes even the Unified250 software all in an effort to restore the full functionality of the new unified devices. When Logitech started using the unified receiver, the existing SetPoint software became largely incompatible and lost both the mouse and battery tabs. I want to install the official drivers for this mouse, but I certainly don't want to have to install three pieces of software for a plain-old Wireless mouse. ![]() So, that sounds like it could also have a driver. OK, I know that the Mouse communicates with the computer through a USB "Unifying" Wireless receiver. How do I differentiate between these two options? Um, that sounds like the same thing as Setpoint. "Logitech Options software lets you customize your device settings." Plus, I think in the past I have installed Setpoint before when I wanted drivers for my Logitech products. OK, software that lets me customize my device sounds like it would need drivers to interact with the device. "Setpoint lets you customize your mouse, keyboard, touchpad and numberpad settings in Windows." Here is my problem: I go to the download screen for the M510 mouse on, and I'm presented with three downloads: I'm having some problems with the inconsistency in its functionality, so before you tell me to just use the default Windows drivers: I'd love to do that but some things are not working for me, so I want to try using the official vendor drivers. I have a simple M510 Logitech Wireless mouse. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tobias Lilja created one of the most interesting electronic soundtracks for a video game. They also add some creepiness to the overall immersion since as I wrote in the beginning of the review, these two kids are not that innocent as you may think. The sounds of a music box and nursery rhymes were the composer’s inspiration again and they work well in the game about the two lost kids. Since it is a sequel to a game about children, there had to be children-like humming and of course the music box themes ( Main Theme, Togetherness, Casting Shadows) included in the score, and also some references to the first game soundtrack ( Main Theme, Togetherness). Why is sound so important for horror games? On the other hand, eerie ambient parts like Playtime or A Little Warmth make the player feel isolated in the mysterious, unfriendly city. On the one hand skillfully used synthesizers merged with organic sounds make them perfectly fitting the scary atmosphere of Little Nightmares 2. The tracks accompanying the scenes of fighting or running ( Claustrophobia, Bottom Feeders, Shopping Spasm) are hair-rising and not pleasant to listen to, but that is what makes them oddly enjoyable. Finally distorted, grinding Shopping Spasm and The Man in the Hat gives the player and listener the chills. We can hear lots of gloomy electronic soundscapes in tracks like Disposable Entertainment, Playtime or Still Life, high pitched, metallic screams in Waiting Room or Claustrophobia, objects being hit in One Step, Two Step. The soundtrack for the sequel is even more disturbing and unsettling than for the first installment. They walk through the eerie town together, helping each other and dealing with the monsters from the children’s worst nightmares. Fortunately the boy meets Six, the girl known from the first game. ![]() We play as a little boy named Mono, whose name comes from the Greek monos, which indicates being alone and which makes us feel abandoned and desolated during the gameplay. This time we are not trapped inside the gigantic prison vessel called The Maw, but traverse a city showered with rain. We can hear lots of gloomy electronic soundscapes. Tobias Lilja is the composer of the soundtrack again. The first installment of this lovely designed game was very well received and the newest one also gathers good notes. The length is a bit short, and for some that is just unforgivable, but I tend to view games by how much fun I had to play them, and how well made it is Here's hoping we seem some additional lore from the developers It's takes on inspiration from Playdead's LIMBO and Inside which were both fantastic gamesĪ vague story that provides more questions than answers, and leaves you wanting to know more about this world you're in.
